John has worked on my projects as a boiler specialist. We have hired John and Lipten two times, and are in the process of developing a third project.

Both times John has provide valuable advice and service to help us to convert boilers from coal to natural gas, to engineer a new economizer for an existing boiler, and to help us develop a plan for a boiler at the end of it's lifecycle.

John's attention to detail, and timely advice has made Lipten our supplier of choice for boiler systems. John has provided complete lifecycle support from capital planning to execution of replacement systems.

Lipten Joint Venture Awarded Powerhouse Upgrade Project at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)

WIXOM, Michigan, February 28, 2012 -- Lipten announced today that it was awarded a contract, as part of a joint venture with The Walsh Group, for major renovations to the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) North Central Utility plant. The project involves the replacement of four watertube steam boilers with four new firetube boilers. The project also entails new water treatment systems, a new underground fuel storage tank and building HVAC modifications.

The project is expected to yield considerable energy savings for the airport primarily due to the provision of: (1) boilers sized to better match steam demand, (2) more efficient boilers and (3) improved control systems. Also, the systems’ safety and reliability will be improved with the replacement of older, now obsolete equipment. Further, Low emission boiler technology will result in lower emissions.

"The Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) procurement process is very thorough. The award of this contract proves Lipten’s ability to provide the highest value energy solutions in an intensely competitive environment," said James Spencer, president and CEO of Lipten. Jim Marshall, Vice President of Operations at Lipten Company, added, “We are very enthused to be working on another project with the WCAA and our joint venture partner, The Walsh Group. Lipten’s steam cycle expertise and Walsh’s general construction excellence provide great value to our many clients.”

As always, Lipten and their partners intend to rely on local sourcing of equipment and labor when practical. Local sourcing provides knowledgeable tradesmen and a boost to the local economy. Whether the jobsite is in Michigan, Illinois, Texas or any other state, Lipten’s focus on local sourcing is a key component to supporting the communities where they work.
