"The project was handled in a manner that always made you aware of your value as the customer. Jim (Lipten project manager) responded to all inquiries in a prompt and extremely professional manner. You could always sense that he was concerned about doing everything within his power to keep the project moving and the customer happy. John (Lipten site supervisor) did an outstanding job of coordinating the work in the field. He made the necessary contacts to get clarification for any questions that arose in a timely manner and was always in contact with the key players needed to keep the project moving. I’m pleased to be closing out my career with the State of Pennsylvania having had the opportunity to see a project of this magnitude completed without the ever familiar delays that typically occur within the layers of the State Government decision making process."

Lipten to Upgrade 32 MW Generation Facility

Lipten is performing a design-build upgrade of the boilers at the Covanta Plymouth, PA facility. The facility processes approximately 1,216 tons per day of municipal solid waste– generating more than 32 megawatts of renewable energy.

The facility has two boilers, each with three auxiliary oil fired burners. Lipten is replacing the existing burners with new ones capable of firing natural gas or oil. The work also includes a custom PLC based control system. The site installation and startup will be completed within a very short shutdown duration. “This project allows Lipten to showcase the power of the EPC approach to provide superior coordination of site activities” said Jim Marshall, president of Lipten, “With our engineering and construction teams working together in the months leading up to the shutdown, the site work will be well planned and executed.”
