 | | Project: GM Wentzville, MS - Coal to Natural Gas Conversion Client: General Motors Scope: Lipten is converting two coal-fired boilers to fire natural gas at the GM Wentzville assembly facility in Missouri. Lipten has converted many boilers from coal to natural gas firing; several of them at GM facilities.
The project includes installation of new vertical-firing natural gas burners. Vertical burners were chosen instead of horizontal burners for this application to provide: optimum flame geometry for the specific furnace configuration, improved water circulation patterns, improved thermal efficiency, better overall boiler performance, avoidance of flame impingement and simplified operation. The project also includes new forced draft fans, natural gas supply systems, electrical modifications, custom Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) control systems from Lipten’s Controls Division and additional system modifications required to convert coal boilers to fire natural gas. This project will be completed by the end of 2013. |

 | | Project: Heat Recover Steam Boiler & Turbines Client: Natural Gas Processing Facility Scope: Lipten was contracted to provide engineering, project management, equipment, installation, start-up and training services for a new heat recovery steam boiler and turbine system. The equipment included two heat recovery steam generators, two economizers, two deaerators, two 2,000 hp steam turbines and associated stacks and ducting. |
 | | Project: GM - SPO- Feedwater Pumps Client: General Motors Scope: Project called for the replacement of three pumps with vertical multi-stage centrifugal pumps underneath the DA tank. In addition, Lipten installed three HBE Arc valves. |
 | | Project: Industrial Waste Heat Generator Client: Private Scope: Lipten provided complete EPC services for an industrial retrofit project that included a Thermal Oxidizer, Waste Heat Boiler, a steam condenser, DA tank, all the controls plus an electrical equipment line up. |
 | | Project: DaimlerChrysler World Headquarters Client: DaimlerChrysler Corp. - Auburn Hills, MI Scope: New 45,000,000 Btu/hr high temperature hot water generator with low NOx burner, forced draft combustion air fan, flue gas recirculation system, main and pilot gas valve trains, SLC-based combustion control and burner management systems, all required field instrumentation and a stack gas oxygen analyzer. |
 | | Project: Ford Motor Company, Cleveland Client: Ford Motor Company - Dearborn, MI Scope: Demolition of existing grates, stokers, coal and ash hoppers and combustion fans. Installed furnace floors, support plates and a structural steel system required to support the new vertically fired burners. |
